The Nirma University Campus is located on Sarkhej-Gandhinagar highway in the city of Ahmedabad and is in close proximity to Gandhinagar. The campus has good connectivity to all parts of the city. It is 17 kms away from the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport and domestic airport, Ahmedabad; 11 kms from the Sabarmati railway station and around 6 kms from Ranip bus stop. The city is the hub of prestigious academic and research institutes, such as the National Institute of Design, Indian Institute of Management, and Indian Institute of Technology, among others.
Spread across the sprawling lush green 115-acres, Nirma University has a host of Institutes, Departments and Centers, including Institute of Technology, Institute of Management, Institute of Pharmacy, Institute of Science, Institute of Law, Institute of Architecture and Planning, Institute of Commerce, Department of Design, Faculty of Doctoral Studies and Research, Centre for Continuing Education, and Center for Entrepreneurship each housed in an independent building.
These buildings have a host of amenities including amphi-theatre class rooms equipped with multi-media and audio-visual equipment, spacious seminar halls and auditoriums with varied capacities, hi-tech advanced laboratories with the latest equipment, and studios, to name a few.
The computing facilities at the campus includes state-of-the-art computer laboratories, with the latest configuration computers, modern software and high speed servers. A gigabit network connects every nook and corner of the University. A 512 Mbps dedicated optic fibre leased line and Wi-Fi hotspots enable round the clock Internet connectivity on the campus.
The University also houses a Doctor’s clinic, which is open for all members of the community all through the working hours. The doctor can be contacted over phone as well in case of any emergency. The University also has ambulance facility round the clock.
A Sculpture park adds to the aesthetics of the ambience. Every statue is beautifully carved and tells its own unique story. It is a delight to see these huge structures stand tall in the University lawns. In addition, the University has an art gallery displaying the paintings of the late Nima K Patel.
The University has ample space for a host of indoor and outdoor sports activities. The Students Activity Centre has facilities for indoor games including carom, chess and table tennis. It also has a well-equipped modern gymnasium.
The campus has world-class infrastructure to facilitate almost all outdoor sports activities. It has a well-maintained cricket ground with three hard bowling pitches. Training nets are also provided during the practice sessions.
Further, there is a running track, three lawn tennis courts, two volleyball courts, two basketball courts, and space for football and kho-kho as well.
The University has a system of libraries with state-of-the-art facilities. Each Institute of Nirma University has a separate library located in the respective institute’s building. To facilitate users with reading and brain storming, separate reading rooms have been provided along with the library. All libraries are digitally connected and have many shared resources. Remote log-in facility is also provided to access electronic resources 24 x 7 and ensures high network security.
The University has three hostels blocks in all, two for the boys and one for the girls. The hostels have a total capacity for around 800 students. The hostel rooms are spacious and well-furnished. The hostels amenities include mess facility, Student Activity Centre, which has facilities for indoor games, yoga and meditation, Nirma University Achieve; and a multi-purpose hall.
Besides the mess specifically for hostels, the University has a central dining facility for all members located in one of the buildings, and two food courts providing a variety of food and beverages.
The pace at which the University is growing there is a constant need to upgrade, update and add new infrastructural facilities. Keeping this in account, the University is developing new infrastructure comprising three main buildings. The first building block has classroom cluster and a huge computer centre, the second block houses a Convention Centre, and the third building comprises of an institute, classroom clusters, Central Library, and space for different offices. The total area covered by these three new blocks is 1,52,337 sq mtr in addition to the 1,31,189 sq mtr existing infrastructure.
